Owen Lightbody

Owen Lightbody is an experienced professional in the field of polymer chemistry, currently serving as the Application Development & Circular Economy Team Leader at NOVA Chemicals since July 2011. In this role, Owen focuses on transitioning flexible packaging manufacturers to monomaterial recyclable alternatives, with a significant emphasis on developing high-density BOPE technology. Previous positions at NOVA Chemicals include Team Leader for Performance Films Technical Service and Project Lead for polyethylene products, managing teams and developing innovative packaging solutions. Before NOVA, Owen was a Scientist in Catalyst Development at SBI Fine Chemicals, where research concentrated on catalysts for polymerization and biodiesel production. Owen holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry with a specialization in Catalysis from the University of Alberta, completed in 2008.
