Robert Horton

Robert Horton is a distinguished Hospice Palliative Care Physician with extensive experience in residential and home hospice care, serving at the Nova Scotia Health Authority and Hospice Halifax since December 2020 and January 2021, respectively. With a background as an Associate Professor at Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine from 2003 to 2020, Robert provided community-based palliative care consultation, inpatient care, and mentorship. Robert led the establishment of Nova Scotia's first residential hospice through strategic planning and advocacy, co-developed provincial operational standards, and actively participated in capital fundraising campaigns. As a clinical researcher, Robert has produced scholarly publications on virtual palliative care and MAiD in Nova Scotia. Prior roles include family practice at Annapolis Family Practice Associates and a Medical Officer in the Canadian Forces, complemented by advanced training in palliative medicine. Education credentials include a medical degree from Dalhousie University and additional specialization in palliative medicine.
