Monica Giovannini, MD has extensive work experience in the field of clinical development and oncology. Monica is currently the Head Clinical Development Oncology & Hematology at Novartis since December 2022. Previously, they held the role of Vice President, Clinical Development Head Oncology at Novartis from March 2020 to December 2022.
Prior to joining Novartis, Dr. Giovannini worked at Novartis Oncology as the Global Program Clinical Head Executive Director from September 2017 to March 2020.
Monica also has experience as the Co-founder and Senior Partner at MESN srl, a medical education company located in the University Hospital San Raffaele in Milan. During their tenure from April 2009 to December 2019, they gained experience in start-up activities, P&L, business negotiations, legal consultations, team building, and leadership.
Dr. Giovannini has also worked at Novartis in various roles including Senior Clinical Development Medical Director, Senior Medical Manager in Solid tumors Franchise Region Europe, and Global Program Leader-Medical Director in Oncology Translational Medicine. Their tenure at Novartis spanned from July 2012 to August 2017.
Before joining Novartis, they worked as a Senior Assistant Medical Oncologist at IEO Istituto Europeo di Oncologia from October 2010 to June 2012. Monica started their career as an Assistant Medical Oncologist in the Oncology Department at San Raffaele Scientific Institute and University Hospital Milan from January 2005 to October 2010.
Monica Giovannini, MD completed their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree in Medicine at the University of Verona Italy from 1995 to 2001. Monica then pursued a Post degree Specialty in Oncology from 2001 to 2005, also at the University of Verona Italy. Following that, they obtained a Master in Clinical Senology from the University of Verona Italy from 2005 to 2006. Additionally, they engaged in a post-degree research project focused on Breast cancer-microarray lab at the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Research Centre-Institute of Cancer Research (ICR-London) in 2004.
