We are seeking an ambitious Senior Azure Cloud Architect who can support and mature our cloud-based IT architecture as part of our journey to expand our IT capabilities within infrastructure, cloud, security and automation.

The position

We offer you an opportunity to shape our Azure Cloud infrastructure and capabilities and influence the adoption of new cloud technologies to enhance the businesses and their processes.

You will become part of the Corporate IT Team consisting of 15 IT professionals with different areas of expertise who are collectively responsible for providing secure and modern IT services to the Novo Nordisk Foundation, Novo Holdings, and their affiliates. We use a high level of outsourcing and external consultants and most of the daily operational tasks are delegated to these partners.

The Corporate IT function covers a wide range of IT domains such as IT infrastructure, IT applications, AI- and automation technologies and cyber security. In addition, Corporate IT is responsible for providing efficient IT operations for more than 500 colleagues globally. The Corporate IT team is part of the CFO area in the Novo Nordisk Foundation which gives the mandate to set the direction for the IT landscape across the organisation and influence how IT practices are carried out in the businesses.

As a Senior Azure Cloud Architect in the Corporate IT team, you will be reporting to and aligning priorities with the Head of Corporate IT.

You will have the overall responsibility for building a secure and purpose-build Azure cloud architecture with a strong operational setup around it. You will also play a leading role in ensuring that our cloud solutions effectively support the business needs and strategic priorities of the organisation.

Key tasks and responsibilities of the role include:

  • Develop and maintain an Azure cloud architecture that adheres to modern security and governance standards.
  • Build Cloud Centre of Excellence capabilities within Corporate IT to support business growth and technology adoption.
  • Provide architecture support to the Corporate IT team on IT implementation and operations projects to ensure high-quality standards for our IT services and solutions in the cloud.
  • Collaborate with digitalization teams and stakeholders from the line of business to identify business challenges and opportunities where new digital solutions can add value.
  • Advise newly established companies from Novo Holdings and the Novo Nordisk Foundation on common cloud infrastructure matters such as project scoping and system choices.
  • Propose initiatives for the IT portfolio to maintain a state-of-the-art IT architecture.

The role requires a broad understanding of modern technologies and the ability to imagine these technologies in a business context. Therefore, it is imperative that you stay up to date on the latest technologies and trends and demonstrate a passion for business efficiency.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with a relevant IT degree at MSc. level or higher within Computer Science, Data Science, or similar fields and at least five years of professional experience working with cloud technology, infrastructure, and security. Moreover, we prefer that you have:

  • Strong understanding of Azure cloud infrastructure, governance and security practices.
  • Practical experience with design, implementation, and operations of Azure cloud solutions.
  • Good project management skills
  • Knowledge of tools such as Azure AI, Machine Learning, and analytics services such as data bricks, Fabric, AI studio, and Data Factory.
  • Knowledge of Azure compute and container services such as AKS and Functions.
  • Interest in AI and automation platforms, tools, and solutions.
