Matthew Watts

Matthew Watts is an experienced researcher and leader in the field of biofuel production, currently serving as R&D Senior Scientist I at Novonesis, where responsibilities include leading product development for fermentation yeast and enzymes on a global scale. Previously, Matthew held various positions at Novozymes, progressing from Contract Research Associate to Senior Scientist I, with a focus on product development and technical support in biofuel generation. In addition to scientific roles, Matthew serves as a Board Member and Treasurer for the Youth Cycling Initiative, overseeing financial management for the non-profit. Matthew holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Florida, where research focused on microbiology and immunology, and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from North Carolina State University.
