Aliya Karim

Aliya Karim has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Aliya'smost recent position was as the Associate Director of Social Media at NowThis, where they oversaw the publishing of social media managers across multiple platforms and optimized content to reach target audiences. Prior to that, they served as the Senior Social Media Manager at NowThis, where they managed revenue-generating sponsored content and editorial partnerships. Aliya also worked as a Social Publisher at NowThis, where they published and optimized daily news shows and solicited story ideas from viewers.

In 2018, Aliya worked as a Virtual Town Hall Producer at the Biden Cancer Initiative, where they managed Twitter Q&As and solicited questions from the public. Aliya also worked as a Video Writer at Vox Media, Inc., where they wrote and visualized scripts for branded content Explainer videos and developed the format for Explainer articles.

Prior to that, Aliya served as a Digital Communications Producer at the World Food Program USA, overseeing website redesign and managing social media accounts. Aliya also worked as a Fellow at Bully Pulpit Interactive and held various positions at George Washington University and The Institute for Inclusive Security.

Aliya began their career as an intern at CBS News and NBC, and they also worked as an Online Communications Consultant and Intern at the Center for American Progress. Throughout their career, Aliya has demonstrated strong skills in social media management, content optimization, scriptwriting, and project management.

Aliya Karim has a strong education background in media and journalism. Aliya obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Media and Public Affairs from The George Washington University between 2012 and 2014. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the same university, graduating between 2009 and 2012. Aliya completed their high school education at Ocean Lakes High School, where they graduated with a diploma from the Math & Science Academy in 2009. Aliya Karim also possesses additional certifications, including a Growth Editor Bootcamp completed at Atlantic 57 in December 2016, as well as Certification of Completion in Analytics 201 and Analytics 301 from Cardinal Path in October 2014.
