Ron Elving

Ron Elving is a Senior Editor and Correspondent at NPR, serving since 1999 as an on-air and digital analyst for various programs. Elving has held prominent roles in the media, including Political Editor at USA Today from 1998 to 1999 and Political Editor at Congressional Quarterly from 1987 to 1997, where the focus was on election coverage. Elving's early career included legislative work for the United States Senate and a Congressional Fellowship with the American Political Science Association. Additionally, Elving worked as a reporter and bureau chief at the Milwaukee Journal. Academic credentials include a Master of Journalism from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Arts in English from the University of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Stanford University. Elving also contributes as a Visiting Professional in Residence at American University's School of Communication.
