Tara Neill is an accomplished journalist with extensive experience in international reporting. Currently serving as the Deputy International, Latin America and Africa Editor at NPR since May 2022, Tara has previously held significant roles at BBC News from July 1998 to April 2022, including Deputy Bureau Chief in the Washington DC bureau and Senior Africa Producer. In these positions, Tara oversaw coverage of major global events such as the deaths of Fidel Castro and Muhammad Ali, natural disasters, and significant political developments. Tara's leadership contributed to award-winning coverage, including recognition for work on the fall of Robert Mugabe and reporting in Goma, DRC. Educationally, Tara holds a Master of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Dundee, completed in 1996.
