Shalmali Gadgil

Shalmali Gadgil is a dedicated researcher with expertise in synthetic biology and product development related to healthcare and food innovation. Currently serving as a Research Assistant at Prokarium since August 2024, Shalmali focuses on cancer immunotherapies. Additionally, Shalmali holds the position of Managing Director at Nucleate Cultivate since June 2022. Previous experience includes a Product Development Internship at Voyage Foods, where Shalmali contributed to the development of Bean-Free Coffee, and a Research Assistant role at Current Foods, focusing on alternative fat development for plant-based smoked salmon. Shalmali has also conducted research on host-pathogen interactions at the University of Aberdeen and gene therapy for lupus at the University of Florida. Earlier roles include a Cognitive Neuroscience Internship at Hiroshima University and research on natural flavan-3-ols at Shibaura Institute of Technology. Shalmali is pursuing an Integrated Bachelors - Msci in Biotechnology, specializing in Applied Molecular Biology at the University of Aberdeen.
