Lucas O. Souza

Lucas O. Souza has a long history of work experience in the field of artificial intelligence. Lucas began their career in 2005 as a Resource Management Coordinator for Tata Consultancy Services. In 2010, they moved on to become an Operations PMO for IBM Brasil. In 2011, they co-founded Editora Midia Urbana, a start-up on Advertisement. In 2012, they took a role as a Senior Analyst for TIVIT and a Data Scientist for the Brazilian Office of the Comptroller General. In 2016, they became a Mentor for Udacity. In 2018, they founded Derivada, a company that fosters development in artificial intelligence. Finally, in 2019 they became a Senior Researcher for Numenta, where they are implementing algorithms in supervised, self-supervised, reinforcement, meta, and continual learning.

Lucas O. Souza has a varied educational background. Lucas obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Universidade de Brasília in 2004-2007, a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management, General from Universidade Católica de Brasília in 2011-2012, and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from USP - Universidade de São Paulo in 2008-2011. Lucas also attended Dev Bootcamp in 2014-2015.

In 2016, Souza obtained a Nanodegree in Data Analyst from Udacity, followed by a Nanodegree in Machine Learning Engineer from Udacity in 2016 and a Nanodegree in Self Driving Car Engineer from Udacity in 2017. In 2018, they obtained a Nanodegree in Deep Learning from Udacity, a Specialization in Deep Learning from Coursera, and a Master of Science in Informatics from Universidade de Brasília.

Souza has also obtained several certifications, including a Mathematics for Machine Learning certification from Coursera in 2019, a Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning Summer School certification from CIFAR in 2019, a Deep Learning Nanodegree certification from Udacity in 2018, a Deep Learning Specialization certification from Coursera in 2018, an ACAI Summer School on Reinforcement Learning certification from the European Association for Artificial Intelligence in 2017, a Self Driving Car Engineer Nanodegree certification from Udacity in 2017, a Machine Learning Engineer Nanodegree certification from Udacity in 2016, a Data Analyst Nanodegree certification from Udacity in 2016, a TOEFL iBT certification from ETS Global B.V. in 2015, a Tackling the Challenges of Big Data certification from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2015, and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from Project Management Institute in 2012.
