Dr. Ashish Patel

Dr. Ashish Patel, MD is an experienced professional with a diverse background. Starting in 2010, they served as a Local Negotiating Committee member for the British Medical Association. In 2010, they also began working as a Foundation Doctor in the NHS, specializing in anaesthetics and intensive care medicine. During their time at the NHS, which lasted until 2014, Dr. Patel had the privilege of serving patients in London. After their work in the NHS, Dr. Patel joined Babylon Health as a Clinical Technology Director from 2013 to 2016. In this role, they played a key part in developing new healthcare products, leading the way from concept to commercialization. Following their time at Babylon Health, Dr. Patel joined Mercia Asset Management PLC as a Life Sciences Investor & Head of Research from 2016 to 2019. In this position, they played a crucial role in developing an inorganic growth strategy, resulting in significant Asset Under Management (AUM) growth. Subsequently, Dr. Patel worked as a Principal at Optum Ventures from 2019 until July 2021. During their time at Optum Ventures, they led several venture capital and growth-equity deals, including a Series D funding round for Lumeon. Currently, Dr. Patel holds the position of Managing Director and Head of Growth Capital Solutions for Investment Banking at Deutsche Numis, starting in July 2021.

Dr. Ashish Patel, MD obtained their medical degree, BMBCh, from the University of Oxford, where they studied from 2007 to 2010. Prior to that, they completed a degree in Physiological Sciences and the History and Philosophy of Science, MA (Oxon), at the University of Oxford from 2004 to 2007. Before entering university, Dr. Patel attended Queen Elizabeth's School, Barnet, from 1997 to 2004. Dr. Ashish also attended Stanburn Middle School, although specific dates were not provided. In addition to their medical education, Dr. Patel has obtained certifications including CF30 from the Financial Conduct Authority in 2019 and the Investment Management Certificate from the CFA Institute in 2017.
