About The Role

The Vehicle & Software Global Supply Manager will help develop and drive our contract manufacturers, supply base strategy, sourcing, readiness, and execution for Nuro’s vehicle and software requirements. Please note that this is a dual-role requirement with work deliverables covering both Vehicle and Software sourcing/negotiation. 

Vehicle Supply Chain -  Manage the supply base for Nuro sourced components, and contract manufacturer supply base for components and subassemblies in addition to business functions like capacity planning, NPI readiness, Spare allocation, and Manufacturing readiness as we ramp from prototype to production.

Software Supply Chain - Manage category strategies to address internal business needs in various software areas, such as SaaS & Subscriptions, IT services, and Cloud solutions. Key deliverables include developing sourcing strategies, negotiating contracts that align with strategic objectives, managing existing contracts, and growing supplier relationships.

About the Work:

Vehicle Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Nuro’s supply base strategy with an in-depth understanding of the technologies, suppliers, and industrial options
  • Negotiate NDA’s, SOWs, Master Supplier Agreements and ensure key contractual documents are in place prior to award of business.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers throughout contract and pricing negotiations, business strategy planning, build and production supply execution, and growth/scaling.
  • Prepare suppliers and contract manufacturers for production readiness through detailed assessment of tooling, capacity, quality and logistics.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and lead process flow for new changes and developments
  • Manage supplier bring up for all builds for the entire product lifecycle from development, ramp, production and obsolescence.
  • Support inbound/outbound shipment tracking to contract manufacturers as well as help negotiate and find low cost solutions for optimized logistics and customs.
  • Work with internal and external logistics stakeholders to develop efficient and cost effective strategy for shipments management.
  • Lead efforts in finding cost-effective packaging and transportation solutions between Nuro and suppliers.
  • Manage days of inventory, safety stock, warehousing, and spares with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Define and implement development business milestones for tooling and NRE with partners. Monitor progress, track changes, and where applicable negotiate changes in costs associated with design, scope of work, and/or capacity for vehicle systems, modules, and components.
  • Oversee and collaborate on the development of the build schedule with technical teams and suppliers; host regular meetings to drive resolution of any commercial and industrialization issues. Visit suppliers’ locations as needed.
  • Establish, track and report on metrics for success to ensure suppliers meet targets efficiently. Key metrics include: schedule, cost, quality, throughput, cycle time, and yield.
  • Evaluate business proposals and present recommendations that will lower program risk, result in cost avoidance or savings, and positively impact Nuro’s ability to meet its objectives.
  • Communicate program readiness, timelines and risks to key stakeholders
  • Domestic travel (10%) and international travel (15%).

Software Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of global sourcing strategies for Software and IT services, ensuring alignment with Nuro’s strategic goals and financial objectives.
  • Cultivate and deepen relationships with key stakeholders within Nuro’s Software, Hardware and IT organizations, working collaboratively to capture engineering and IT requirements to craft comprehensive sourcing strategies.
  • Proactively manage the portfolio of existing and future Software, Hardware Engineering and IT contracts. This includes contract renewals, the relevant commercial discussions, with a focus on ensuring competitive pricing with each vendor.
  • Lead the supplier sourcing process, offering insights and analytics to inform decision-making and optimize supply chain efficacy. 
  • Manage key supplier relationships, ensure contract compliance, and be the key point of contact for strategic and commercial communication between Nuro internal software customers and our suppliers.
  • Work closely with engineering leads and the finance team on upcoming needs, contributing to planning and budgeting efforts. 
  • Develop a strong understanding of key industry trends and developments within the Software/IT space, leveraging this knowledge to enhance Nuro’s competitive edge.
  • Utilize internal ERP system to streamline purchase order processing and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure efficient order placement and invoice reconciliation. 
  • Extend expertise to support the management of other indirect spend categories, ensuring that procurement strategies for non-IT goods and services are also cost-effective and aligned with Nuro financial imperatives

 

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or Business + 5 years of experience. Masters degree or MBA is a plus.
  • Experience in sourcing mechanical and/or electrical vehicle commodities and/or Software solutions and services.
  • You are a self starter who is comfortable in an ambiguous environment. You thrive where there is a challenge to organize, measure, and execute. You take initiative when something needs to get done and are self-motivated for success. You are widely known for your can-do attitude and for getting results and people look to you to lead.
  • You’ve shipped product(s). You’ve been through and helped drive all stages of product development - from prototype to new product introduction and ramp to production. You can point to successful product launches and can share effective lessons you’ve learned from the less successful ones.
  • You hold a diverse background that allows you to bring best practices to the table. You have experience in sourcing mechanical and electrical components for Vehicle level systems.  You also have the technical experience from working in factories ramping operations with multiple production lines.
  • You have excellent project management and prioritization skills. You are well organized and can juggle multiple workstreams to ensure the team hits critical achievements. 
  • You can influence others in all directions. You know how to effectively communicate and collaborate cross-functionally and with all levels within an organization. You have a deep understanding of how to identify team goals and align others to execute.

 

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $138,225 and $207,575 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
