Nuzee was started after the devastating tsunami that hit Japan in March 2011. At the time, the companies’ mission was to provide safe bottled drinking water to help in the recovery effort. This humanitarian effort led to the establishment and launch of Nuzee products worldwide.

The CEO and founder used to work at Starbucks, and the head of brand strategy used to work at Seattle's Best Coffee. The team also has a lot of experience with integrated marketing, which they gained from their time at Brooks Running.
