Kim Whetzel

Kim Whetzel has significant work experience in both the Nevada Air National Guard and NV Energy. In the Nevada Air National Guard, Kim has held the role of Squadron Commander since December 2022. At NV Energy, Kim has held various roles, including Director of Operations since July 2022, Manager T&D Operations from May 2016 to July 2022, and Senior Distribution Operator/Transmission System Operator from December 1999 to May 2016. Additionally, Kim served as the Executive Officer in the Nevada Air National Guard from December 1999 to December 2022.

Kim Whetzel earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology, General from the University of Nevada, Reno, graduating in 2005. Kim then pursued an Associate of Science degree in Biology, General at Truckee Meadows Community College from 2000 to 2002. In 2013, they completed an Associate of Applied Science in Electrical Transmission Systems Technology at Bismarck State College. Kim returned to Bismarck State College in 2015 and obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Energy Management in 2016. Kim is currently enrolled in Western Governors University, pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, which they expect to complete in 2022. Kim has additional certifications including Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from Las Vegas Lean Six Sigma and Reliability Coordinator System Operator Certification from the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), which they obtained in 2010.
