Frederik Styns

Frederik Styns is a prominent figure in the music sector, currently serving as Chairman of the assessment committee for Music Ensembles and Choirs at Raad voor Cultuur since November 2023 and as a Member of the assessment committee for Institutional Review at NVAO since September 2023. With ongoing contributions to the Vlaamse overheid since 2018 as a committee member focused on Classical Music and Music Theatre, Frederik previously held the position of CEO at Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen from September 2016 to August 2023, where significant accomplishments included establishing a new strategic direction and enhancing the orchestra's international profile. Other notable roles include Professor and Department Head at KASK en Conservatorium from 2014 to 2017, and Artistic Director at Outhere Music from 2012 to 2014, overseeing artistic direction for various prestigious music labels. Frederik Styns holds a PhD in Musicology and Ethnomusicology and a Master's degree in Musicology, both from Ghent University.
