Deepak Ghimire, PhD

Deepak Ghimire, PhD has extensive work experience in academic and research roles. Deepak is currently a Research Professor at Soongsil University, starting in January 2022. Prior to this, they worked as an AI Software Developer at NVISO from March 2018.

From July 2014 to December 2019, Deepak served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at KETI (Korea Electronics Technology Institute). During this time, they focused on various projects related to advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including driver status monitoring, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and pedestrian detection. Deepak also worked on color image enhancement, fault detection in NFC cards, breath graph estimation from video, cast shadow detection, and 3D object detection. Deepak optimized and ported algorithms for ADAS in vehicle black-boxes.

Starting in February 2009 until August 2014, Deepak worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Chonbuk National University. Their research areas included face detection and recognition, facial emotion/expression analysis, vision-based driver status monitoring systems, cast shadow detection, and vehicle/pedestrian detection and tracking. Deepak actively published journal and conference papers and attended conferences and workshops. Deepak also provided guidance and taught C/C++ programming to undergraduate and master students.

In February 2014, Deepak was a Visiting Scholar at Simon Fraser University for a short period.

Before pursuing their doctorate and research roles, Deepak worked as a Lecturer at Pokhara University, Lumbini Engineering College from August 2007 to December 2008.
