Kim Baker

Kim Baker has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Kim is currently working as a Senior Product Equity Enablement Manager at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, where they also previously served as a Content Equity Lead. Prior to that, they worked at NWEA as a Content Equity Lead and Math Content Specialist. Kim has also volunteered as a Showing Up for Racial Justice San Diego volunteer at SURJ San Diego, where they co-facilitated workshops on racial justice. In addition, they have worked as a freelance writer, columnist, and author, with publications in Curve magazine, Lavender Lens, San Diego Reader, and Epochalips. Kim has also worked as an Independent Educational Consultant, Sr. Content Specialist at Scantron, Sr. Curriculum Specialist at PLATO Learning, Lead Elementary Instructional Designer at Pearson Digital Learning, and Math, Science, Technology Specialist at Osborn School District. Kim started their career as a 4th Grade Teacher and Teacher Trainer at Wood Dale School District 7.

Kim Baker has a Master's degree in Education and Curriculum from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, which they obtained from 2000 to 2003. Kim is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education (EdD) degree in Educational Policy and Leadership, with a focus on Diversity & Equity, at the same university, which they started in 2020 and is expected to complete in 2024. In addition, Kim has obtained various certifications, including a Certified Diversity Professional certification from The Society For Diversity in August 2020.
