Lise Morton

Vice President, Site Selection at NWMO

Lise Morton has extensive work experience in the field of nuclear waste management. Lise currently holds the position of Vice President, Site Selection at the Nuclear Waste Management Organization, starting in March 2021. Prior to this, Lise worked at Ontario Power Generation, where they served as Vice President, Nuclear Waste Management Division from November 2016 to February 2021. In this role, they were responsible for the safe management of low, intermediate, and high-level waste, as well as overseeing the project for the Deep Geologic Repository for Low & Intermediate Level waste.

Before their role as Vice President, Lise held various positions within Ontario Power Generation's Nuclear Waste Management Division, including Director of Low and Intermediate Level Waste Operations from January 2011 to October 2016. In this role, they were accountable for the safe and reliable operations and maintenance of low and intermediate-level radioactive waste, as well as radioactive materials transportation. Lise also served as the license holder for several CNSC licenses and represented Operations and Maintenance at public hearings for OPG's Deep Geologic Repository project.

Lise's work experience also includes roles at Ontario Hydro and Fiberglas Canada. At Ontario Hydro, they worked as a Senior Technical Engineer from January 1990 to December 1998. At Fiberglas Canada, Lise started their career as a Junior Engineer in the Glass division from May 1988 to November 1989. During this time, they participated in glass furnace rebuilds and various R&D projects.

Throughout their career, Lise Morton has gained significant expertise in nuclear waste management, operations, and maintenance.

Lise Morton attended McMaster University from 1984 to 1988, where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Materials Engineering. After completing their undergraduate studies, Lise obtained a certification as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) from the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) in January 1989.
