Ellis Stevens

Motor Control Software Engineer at Nxu

Ellis Stevens began their career in 2018 as a Research Assistant at North Carolina State University. In this role, they aided in the design of a 4 motor, 6 degree of freedom flight control system and constructed a 3D CAD model of a chassis and conducted structural analysis using Solidworks and Ansys. Ellis also led a team of 5 to design, prototype, and produce a temperature controlled vessel designed for determining the composition of an unknown fluid and designed a SISO PID controller to drive the temperature of the system. In 2019, Stevens began working at LORD Corporation, a part of the Parker Hannifin Company, as an Electromechanical Systems Engineer. In this role, they improved motor design on Circular Force Generator used on CH-37 helicopter, created and implemented a unique sensorless motor control algorithm on brushless DC motors in Simulink, and designed and tuned a 2 degree of freedom PI controller for reduced power consumption over variable speed paths. In 2021, Stevens began working at Atlis Motor Vehicles as a Motor Control Software Engineer.

Ellis Stevens obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 2019. Subsequently, they went on to pursue a Master of Engineering - MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution, which they completed in 2020.
