Stein Ivar Bye

Stein Ivar Bye is the current Acting President & CEO of Nynas. Prior to this, they served as the Chief Executive Officer and Board member of a previous company from April 2021 to May 2022. There, they were responsible for developing strategies, priorities, and projects for logistics in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia for the Downstream business of ExxonMobil. Before that, Stein Ivar Bye served as the Chief Executive Officer of Essar Oil (UK) Limited from October 2020 to April 2021. At Essar Oil, they managed product trading activities in the EMEA region and was responsible for spot trading, term sales, and purchases of petroleum products. Prior to joining Essar Oil, Stein Ivar Bye served as the Chief Operations Officer of Preem AB from January 2018 to October 2020. In this role, they were responsible for M&A projects and portfolio management for ExxonMobil Refining and Supply. Stein was also responsible for implementing portfolio projects for the Global R&S business, including successful negotiation with external parties for country exits, major divestments, major acquisitions, and global swaps. In addition to their individual projects, Stein Ivar Bye has played a key role in advancing global best practices including terms of reference, analytical frameworks, legal frameworks, and approaches for negotiations.

Stein Ivar Bye has an Executive training course in Business Administration and Management from INSEAD. Stein also has an MBA in Business strategy and managment from BI Norwegian Business School. Stein has a Global aenterprise leadership, Executive Training Cours in Business strategy and managment from Thunderbird School of Global Management. Stein also has an Executive MBA in International Business from Harvard Business School Executive Education. Lastly, they have a Master's degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on Energy and process technology from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
