Emily Withrow

Emily Withrow has extensive experience in leadership roles within media and technology, currently serving as Senior Vice President at The New York Times from August 2020 to April 2024. Prior to this position, Withrow held several key roles at Quartz, including Vice President, Director of Research and Development, and Director of Quartz Bot Studio, where responsibilities included leading cross-functional teams to enhance member engagement and pioneering conversational interface products. Earlier experiences include serving as Assistant Professor at Northwestern University, directing the Knight Lab to explore emerging technologies in journalism, and working as Web Editor at The Onion, along with contributing to McKinsey Quarterly. Withrow holds an M.S. in Journalism from Northwestern University and dual degrees (BA, MA) in French Literature from Bryn Mawr College.
