James Johnston, MS, CSSP, TLO has over 15 years of experience in large venues and events with a focus on security, training & exercise, and emergency preparedness. James has held various roles such as Senior Director of Security Programs at Oak View Group, Co-Founder & Principal at Continuum Preparedness, Security Operations Manager at Denver Zoological Foundation, Special Projects Consultant and Community Partnerships & Training Coordinator at University of Denver Campus Safety, Security Manager at Spurs Sports & Entertainment, and Curriculum Coordinator at University of Tennessee. James has also worked in roles such as Supervisor of Quality Assurance (QA) at Argus Event Staffing, LLC, Event Manager at University of Denver, Events Intern at Denver Zoological Foundation, and Production Assistant at Imprint Conway. James has extensive experience working with various sports organizations and has managed court security for the NCAA Men's Final Four National Championship Game. James has also contributed to strategic initiatives, employee development programs, and community outreach efforts in various positions.

James Johnston has a Master's Degree in Marketing - Customer Experience Management from the University of Denver - Daniels College of Business, which they acquired from 2014 to 2016. James also holds a Graduate Business Certificate in Strategic Management from the same institution, obtained from 2014 to 2015. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a focus on Management and International Business, also at the University of Denver - Daniels College of Business, from 2010 to 2014.

In addition to their academic qualifications, James has obtained various certifications throughout their career. James is a Certified Sport Security Professional (CSSP) from the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4), attained in December 2022. James has also served as a member of the ASIS Community Steering Committee and is an ASIS Member, both obtained in December 2022 and December 2021 respectively.

Furthermore, James has pursued professional development through FEMA certifications, including the Professional Development Series Certificate, AWR-167: Sport Event Risk Management, Incident Command System 100, 200, & 300, MGT-412: Sport & Special Events Evacuation, Exercise Evaluation and Improvement Planning, Homeland Security Exercise & Evaluation Program (HSEEP), Social Media in Emergency Management, and Special Events Contingency Planning for Public Safety Agencies, all obtained in various years.

Lastly, they hold the certification of CPR/AED/First Aid from the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association, obtained in July 2013, and Microsoft certifications as a Certified Specialist in PowerPoint 2010, Word 2010, and Excel 2010, acquired in 2011.
