The board of directors at ÖBB has a long and varied history. Many members have worked their way up through the company, starting as Geschäftsführer or Geschäftsbereichsleiter. Others have come from outside the company, with experience in industries such as marketing, sales, or finance. All members have a high level of education, with degrees from universities such as the Technische Universität Wien or the WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business).
