Freelance Developer Relations at ObjectBox

Joan Nabusoba has a diverse range of work experience. Joan started their career as a System Software Developer at SuluhuTex in November 2014 and worked there until January 2021. Joan'sresponsibilities in this role included developing system software.

In November 2015, they joined Pwani Teknowgalz as the Professional Development Lead. Here, their duties involved mentoring and training girls and young women, curriculum development, and guiding them in achieving their professional goals in STEM. Pwani Teknowgalz aims to empower girls and young women in marginalized communities in Kenya with practical skills in STEM to contribute to the digital economy.

In January 2020, Joan took on the role of CodeHack Program Lead at Pwani Teknowgalz. This role further allowed their to oversee the CodeHack program, where they continued to support and empower girls in technology.

In January 2022, Joan joined Mozilla as the Kiswahili Community Champion, representing the Mozilla Foundation. Joan'srole involved championing the Kiswahili community within Mozilla and supporting their goals. Joan worked in this role until December 2022.

In February 2023, they started working as a Freelance Developer Relations at ObjectBox, where their responsibilities include developing and maintaining relationships with developers.

Joan Nabusoba completed their Master of Science (MS) in Information Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology from 2017 to 2021. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Information Technology from Technical University of Mombasa from 2012 to 2015. In addition to their formal education, they also obtained a certification from the TechWomen Virtual Program in 2020-2021.
