Paul Buffa has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Paul started their career as an SAT Instructor at Kaplan Test Prep in 2009 before transitioning into various roles within the company, including Academics Data Analyst, Data Analyst/Report Writer, Senior Analyst/Programmer, and finally, Director of Business Analytics & Strategy. In these positions, Paul was responsible for conducting business and marketing analysis, building executive-level reporting, presenting research, training new analysts, and strategizing on marketing and business initiatives.

Paul then worked as a Data Science TA at Metis before joining Capital One as a Principal Data Visualization Engineer. Paul also served as the Lead Visualization Engineer & Designer before moving on to become a Data Visualization Instructor at Metis. During this time, they worked on short-term research projects, utilizing tools such as D3, Unity, and Three.js, and building applications for web, VR, and AR devices.

Later, Paul joined StreetEasy as a Senior Data Visualization Scientist, where they presumably worked on data visualization projects. Paul then became a full-time contractor for McKinsey & Company, where they worked as a Data Visualization Developer for the Covid Response Center team, designing and developing visualizations on the impact of Covid on the business world.

Paul pursued freelance web development as a self-employed freelancer before joining Datadog as a Senior Product Designer specializing in data visualization. Currently, they hold the position of Head of Product Education at Observable, where they utilize their expertise to educate others on product development.

Paul Buffa attended Vassar College and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Philosophy and Music. Paul later pursued a graduate program in Data Science at General Assembly. Additionally, Paul participated in a Study Abroad Program at New York University, focusing on Music. Paul also holds a certification as a Scrum Master, which was obtained through Capital One.
