Robotics Research Team Lead at Ocado Technology

Morteza Azad has a diverse range of work experience in the field of robotics and engineering. Morteza currently works as the Robotics Research Team Lead at Ocado Technology, where they lead a group of robotics research engineers in developing intelligent strategies for grocery picking and packing. Prior to this role, they were a Robotics Research Engineer at Ocado Robotics Research, where they worked on projects in robotic manipulation and applied their expertise in modeling and control.

Morteza also has experience in academia, having worked as a Lecturer at the University of Birmingham, where they taught advanced robotics and supervised M.Sc. students. Morteza was also a Research Fellow at the university, funded by the FP7 European project CoDyCo, where they focused on whole-body motion interaction with multiple contacts.

In addition to their academic and industry experience, Morteza has held various roles earlier in their career, including being a PhD student at the Australian National University, a Visiting Researcher at IIT - Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, a Mechanical Designer at Advanced Fiber Development Co., a Lecturer at Air Force University, and a Mechanical Engineer at SAIPA Automotive Engineering and Technological Services Company (AETESCO).

Morteza Azad holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Robotics from The Australian National University, which they obtained between 2010 and 2014. Prior to this, they earned a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology from 2004 to 2006. Morteza also has a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology - Tehran Polytechnic, which they completed from 2000 to 2006. Additionally, they obtained another Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from AmirKabir University of Technology - Tehran Polytechnic from 2000 to 2004.
