Ilyas Colombowala, MD, FACC, FHRS

Dr. Ilyas Colombowala is an experienced medical professional with a focus on clinical cardiac electrophysiology. Ilyas currently works at Houston Heart Rhythm and Octagos Health, where they serve as a Medical Director and specializes in cardiac electrophysiology. Prior to their current positions, Dr. Colombowala held the role of Chairman of the Department of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery at Saint Alphonsus.

Previously, Dr. Colombowala worked as an Electrophysiologist at the Texas Heart Institute. Ilyas also served as the Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology at Kalispell Regional Healthcare.

Dr. Colombowala gained valuable experience as an Electrophysiologist and Electrophysiology Fellow at the Texas Heart Institute earlier in their career. Ilyas completed their medical training at Baylor College of Medicine, where they had roles as a Cardiovascular Disease Fellow and an Internal Medicine Resident.

Dr. Ilyas Colombowala completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Dartmouth College, from the year 1994 to 1998. Ilyas then pursued their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree in Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, from 1998 to 2002. Dr. Colombowala has acquired several additional certifications in their field. Ilyas is certified in Cardiac Electrophysiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, which they obtained in October 2009. Ilyas also holds a certification in Nuclear Cardiology from the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology, obtained in December 2008. Additionally, Dr. Colombowala is certified in Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine, obtained in October 2008. Finally, they hold a certification in Internal Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine, obtained in August 2005.
