Steven Edgar

Steven Edgar holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Currently serving as Head of Platform Analytical at Octant since September 2024, Steven has previously held positions including Director of Business Development - Pharma at Ginkgo Bioworks, Inc. and Investor & Scientist in Residence at The Production Board. At Zymergen, roles progressed from Scientist I to Senior Scientist & Team Lead, contributing significantly to the DARPA Living Foundries program. Earlier experiences include internships and research roles at ExxonMobil, Eli Lilly and Company, and Johnson & Johnson, alongside academic contributions as a Teaching Assistant at MIT and research assistant at Georgia Tech. Expertise encompasses metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, and bioprocessing.
