Sophie Stephens

Sophie Stephens is an accomplished professional in the field of sustainability and environmental management, currently serving as the Head of Sustainability & Environment at OCU since February 2024. Prior to this role, Sophie was a Board Member at the Brentwood Environmental Business Alliance and the Head of Environment & Sustainability at Ground Control from December 2021 to February 2024. Sophie's extensive experience includes leadership positions at Balfour Beatty plc, where Sophie held the titles of Head of Environmental Sustainability (UK) and Head of Social Value & Sustainability (UK) from October 2018 to December 2021, as well as several roles focused on sustainability within the company since 2008. Early in Sophie's career, positions included Environmental Advisor at Mouchel Parkman and Environmental Coordinator at Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Services. Sophie earned a BSc(Hons) in Environmental Science from Canterbury Christ Church University between 1998 and 2001.
