Charne Nieuwoudt

Charne Nieuwoudt has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Charne is currently working as an Intermediate Data Scientist at OfferZen, starting in 2022.

Prior to that, Charne worked at African Bank from 2019 to 2022. Their roles at African Bank included Assistant Manager Data Science, Data Science Trainee, and Data Science Intern. As Assistant Manager Data Science, they led the voice analytics project team and supervised the development of a natural language processing and optical character recognition-driven automation pipeline. Charne also collaborated with queue agents and operational teams to identify improvements in validation queues and contributed to the development of a new graphical user interface for queue agents. As a Data Science Trainee, Charne was responsible for constructing, implementing, and maintaining strategic foundations across platforms. Charne conducted research on speech emotion recognition and automatic language identification and developed standards for database access, remote server connectivity, and coding best practices.

Before joining African Bank, Charne worked as a Clerk at Drs Gritzman & Thatcher Inc. from 2011 to 2019. Charne also worked as a Laboratory Technician at the University of Johannesburg from 2014 to 2015.

Charne Nieuwoudt holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Johannesburg, which they received in 2013. Charne then pursued further studies at the same institution and obtained an Honours degree in Palaeoanthropology in 2014. Continuing their education, they completed a Master's degree in Palaeoanthropology from the University of Johannesburg between 2016 and 2017. In 2019, Charne Nieuwoudt attended Explore Data Science Academy and earned a Certificate in Data Science.
