Alana Mellon has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and companies. Alana began their career as an Intern at McLaughlin & Harvey Ltd, where they processed data for waste management and organized activities for the Considerate Constructors Scheme. Alana then interned as a Business Development Intern at Action Renewables, where they assisted with business development and marketing activities.
After completing their internships, Alana continued to work at Action Renewables, this time as a Business Development Assistant. In this role, they delivered marketing and business development strategies, assisting with event organization, digital marketing campaigns, and tender applications. Alana later became a Project Manager at Action Renewables, where they worked on renewable energy and energy efficiency projects across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Alana established a consultancy team, formulated service offerings, engaged with new clients, and implemented business development activities.
Alana also worked at Belfast City Council as a Student Placement, where they conducted research on circular economy projects and developed a strategy for change to benefit multiple stakeholders. Alana then took on a Student Placement role at Northern Ireland Environment Link, where they assisted with a public health research project aiming to create a business case for environmentally-led public health projects in Northern Ireland.
Prior to their current role, Alana worked as a Project Manager at the Sustainable Restaurant Association, collaborating with the senior leadership team to implement the organizational strategy. Alana'swork focused on increasing the association's impact on sustainability issues in the hospitality sector, such as menu carbon emissions, plastics and packaging, and food waste.
Currently, Alana Mellon is working as a Business Support Analyst at Ofgem. Alana has also held roles as a Assistant Stakeholder Engagement Manager and Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Manager at the company.
Throughout their career, Alana has demonstrated strong skills in project management, business development, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability.
Alana Mellon's education history begins in 2013 when they attended the University of Leeds. Alana completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Sustainability and Environmental Management (Industrial) in 2017. In 2017, they then went on to attend Queen's University Belfast, where they completed a Master of Science degree in Leadership for Sustainable Development in 2018.
In addition to their formal education, Alana has obtained various certifications. In October 2019, they received the Level 3 Award in the Fundamental Principles and Requirements of Environmental Technology Systems from City & Guilds. Alana also obtained the CIM Level 3 Award in Project Management from the Chartered Management Institute in August 2019. Furthermore, they received certifications in Advanced Excel from Mullan Training in November 2018, as well as in Carbon Foot-printing and Management, and Climate Change: Risk Opportunity and Business Resilience from True North Sustainability in October 2018.
