Max Dunn

Chief Software Architect at OhmConnect

Max Dunn is the Chief Software Architect at OhmConnect. Max has 7 years 10 months of experience at the company and has held the titles of Chief Software Architect, Director of Engineering, and Principal Software Engineer.

Max has been instrumental in OhmConnect's success, helping to grow and manage the team of engineers and contributing to software development. Max has helped improve Nest thermostat support and acceptance into the Works-with-Nest program at Google, and has done a deep-dive analysis into the impact of smart plugs and thermostats on performance. Max wrote the technical plan for a joint venture with an international utility, which gained momentum and attracted additional VC funding and new customers.

As OhmConnect continued to grow, Max focused on long term technical strategy and execution, while helping to develop leadership and management skills in several of the engineers. Max handed over day-to-day responsibilities so they could focus on strategic planning.

Max became a very early customer of OhmConnect after reading about their service in a Greentech Media article. Max was impressed with the concept and execution, and learned that the company consisted of just the 2 founders, neither of whom had any formal software training. Max launched a campaign to join their team and, after an extensive interview and background check process, they were hired.

At OhmConnect, Max has focused on getting as much done as possible, becoming expert in Python Flask, JQuery, and SQL. Max has also set up Amazon AWS hosting services. Security was very loose when they started, so they cleaned up some glaring cross-site scripting and SQL injection holes and implemented VPN access to all our services.

Max Dunn has a MBA from Presidio Graduate School in Sustainable Business, a Mix & Stir Incubator from California College of the Arts in Entrepreneurship, and Continuing Education from Stanford University in Compass Journey, Resource Wars, Social Entrepreneur Workshop, Sustainable Design, and Woods Energy Seminar. Max also has a degree in Computer and Information Science from University of California, Santa Cruz and a degree in Engineering Physics from University of California, Berkeley. Lastly, they graduated from Newport Harbor HS.
