Alvaro Ma has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. In 2007, they worked as a Corporate Finance & Capital Markets Intern at HSBC. From 2009 to 2012, they served as the Head of Planning at Prymera - Caja de ahorro y crédito, and prior to that, they worked as a Credit Risk Analyst at the same company. In 2013, they interned as an MBA Intern for Control Global Financial Markets & Rural and Retail Banking at Rabobank. Alvaro then joined Philips in 2014 as a Controller for the Corporate Internal Audit Department. From 2016 to 2019, Alvaro worked at Oikocredit as the Head of Credit Analysis. In 2020, they became the Impact Finance Manager at Aqua for All. Currently, they hold the position of Global Senior Investment Officer at Oikocredit since 2023.
Alvaro Ma's education history begins in 2002 when they enrolled at Universidad del Pacífico in Peru, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Economics. Alvaro completed their undergraduate studies in 2008.
In 2013, Alvaro Ma enrolled at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, where they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree alongside a Master's degree in Financial Management (MSc). Alvaro completed these programs in 2014.
Between 2017 and 2019, Alvaro Ma attended the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University once again for executive education. During this period, they completed a program in Change Management and Digital Innovation.
Most recently, Alvaro Ma is pursuing a program in Strategic Leadership in Inclusive Finance at the Harvard Business School Executive Education. This program will conclude in 2023.
