Sumani Das

Sumani Das has worked in the oil and gas industry since 2006. In 2006, they worked as a Geoscientist for Samit Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., where their chief tasks included being a team member of various seismic interpretation projects and providing assistance to Reliance, ONGC, OIL and Cairn Energy on the softwares like OpenWorks, StratWorks and SeisWorks of LANDMARK. In 2007, they worked as a Geoscientist for Geopetrol International Inc., where their duties included interpretation of the seismic data, and preparation of maps like time and depth structure, isopach, sand thickness, isopay, porosity, NTG using Petrel, as well as working as a Wellsite Geologist during drilling campaigns. In 2008, they worked as a Senior Geologist for HOEC (Eni Group), where their duties included preparing the Static Geological model using Petrel, structural mapping, facies Modeling and distribution, petrophysical property modeling and population of various properties, uncertainty analysis, and Geostastical analysis. Since 2012, they have been working as Deputy General Manager (Geosciences) for Oilmax Energy Pvt Ltd, where their duties include integrated subsurface evaluation, Reservoir Geology & reservoir characterization, Reservoir Modeling, Field Development & Reservoir Management, Volume Estimation, Risk & Uncertainty Analysis, Well Planning, Operations Geology & well execution support, Merger & Acquisition support, and preparing stochastic models of various assets worldwide prior to finalising investment decisions.

Sumani Das began their educational journey in 1993, completing their Matriculation at D.N. High School, Keonjhar, Orissa in 1996. They then completed their Intermediate at D.D. College, Keonjhar, Orissa in 1998. Following this, they earned a B.Sc. in Geology from North Orissa University in 2001. After that, they attended the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, where they obtained an M.Sc.Tech in Applied Geology in 2004, and an M.Tech in Petroleum Exploration in 2006.
