Sander Bollen

Sander Bollen has worked in a variety of roles since 2006. Sander began their career as a Cashier at V&D in 2008 and Albert Heijn in 2006. In 2009, they worked as a Research Intern / Molecular Biologist at Erasmus MC, where they conducted research on apoptosis inhibition in MLL-rearranged infant acute lymphoblastic leukemia. In 2010, they worked as a Research Intern / Molecular Biologist at Leiden University, where they studied chromatin condensation and CRISPR. Sander also worked as a Mail Carrier at PostNL in 2010. In 2011, they worked as a Research Intern / Molecular Biologist at UMC Utrecht, where they investigated the spatial localization of the Chromosomal Passenger Complex onto chromosomal arms during prophase and prometaphase. In 2012, they worked as a Research Intern / Computational Biologist at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Biology in Berlin, where they developed an R package called CAFE for the detection of chromosomal abnormalities from microarray expression data. Finally, from 2014 to 2019, they worked as a Bioinformatician / Scientific Programmer at Leiden University Medical Center, where they built and maintained Next-Generation Sequencing pipelines for diagnostics and developed bioinformatics tools and (RESTful) services. In 2019, they began working as a Data Engineer at OKRA Technologies, where they architectured and implemented several backend web applications in Python and PostgreSQL, as well as geospatial applications using Python and PostGIS.

Sander Bollen completed their Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Biomedical Sciences from Zuyd Hogeschool | Zuyd University of Applied Sciences between 2007 and 2011. Before that, they attended Porta Mosana from 2002 to 2007. Sander then went on to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) in Cancer Genomics & Developmental Biology at Utrecht University from 2011 to 2014.
