Vanessa Mason has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Vanessa currently works as the Principal of Building Cultures of Belonging at Omidyar Network, where they lead a strategy focused on healing the harms of colonialism and slavery in the United States. Prior to this, they served as the Research Director at the Institute for the Future from 2018 to 2022. From 2013 to 2018, they were the CEO and Founder of Riveted Partners, specializing in integrating design thinking and public health approaches to solve healthcare problems. Vanessa also co-founded and managed P2Health Ventures, an early-stage venture fund that invested in public health tech startups from 2016 to 2018. Additionally, they have held advisory roles, including being a member of the Health IT Policy Advisory Board at Morehouse School of Medicine from 2013 to 2018, and serving as a Senior Manager of eHealth at ZeroDivide from 2014 to 2015. Vanessa has a strong background in health policy research and has worked in organizations such as Rock Health and C1 Consulting. Vanessa has also conducted research on mental health policy in Brazil and has interned at Public Health Solutions, focusing on HIV/AIDS awareness and access to care.

Vanessa Mason earned a BA in Psychology from Yale University in 2006. From 2009 to 2011, they attended Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, where they obtained an MPH degree with a focus on Population and Family Health, Global Health.
