Laura Thoreson has over 25 years of professional experience. Laura began their career in 1994 as a Project Manager at Apex CoVantage where they managed data entry and abstracting projects, provided training to employees, and maintained employee records. From 1998 to 2000, they owned Love@FirstByte and provided accounting and computer support for clients, created business graphics, logos, and advertisements, and designed websites and animated graphics. In 2000, they became the Marketing Director at Prince Michel Vineyard and Winery where they created budgets, promotional materials, and ad campaigns, and maintained the website. From 2005 to 2006, they were a Consultant at The Trellis Group where they coordinated special events and created and maintained websites and ad campaigns for various clients. From 2017 to 2019, they were the Finance Director at The Inn at Willow Grove where they acted as assistant to the General Manager, was responsible for payroll, inventory management, accounts payable, and general ledger reconciliation, and incorporated Human Resources into the position. Most recently, they were a Staff Accountant at One Energy where they received, verified, and processed invoices for payment, processed payments, applied them against invoices, and reviewed general ledger accounts.

Laura Thoreson's education history began in 1987 when they attended Culpeper County High School. Laura then moved on to Stuart Hall in 1988 and Germanna Community College in 1991, where they earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences (A.A.S.) in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies in 1993. Afterwards, they attended George Mason University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English in 2000. Finally, they attended Germanna Community College again in 2006, where they studied Accounting and Business/Management.
