Mark Opland

Mark Opland is an experienced design professional with a diverse range of work experience. Mark is currently working at Onfido as the Vice President of Design, where they lead a team that utilizes AI-based technology to verify the authenticity of user IDs and facial biometrics for secure customer onboarding.

Prior to their role at Onfido, Mark worked at Facebook as a Design Leader, overseeing the design of enterprise products supporting recruiting at Meta (Facebook). Through the use of large-scale data sets, machine learning, and advanced systems design, Mark's team facilitated over 25,000 hires in three years.

Before Facebook, Mark served as the Product Design Director at Xero, where they led the design strategy and execution for the company's US design team. Mark mentored designers, established standards for high-quality delivery, and collaborated with global teams to create innovative products.

As the Chief Creative Officer at Comrade, Mark continuously elevated the company's creative standards while also spearheading new business acquisition. Mark provided creative oversight to a multi-disciplinary team and was directly involved in pitches and projects.

Mark also has a background in the financial industry, having worked at Wells Fargo as the Principal Strategist for the Customer Experience team and as the User Experience Design Manager. In these roles, they played a pivotal role in developing customer experience strategies, optimizing existing products and services, and leading the design team through a major merger.

Before joining Wells Fargo, Mark worked as an independent consultant, collaborating with companies such as eBay, Visa, and Virgin to build user experiences in global markets and define next-generation concepts.

Earlier in their career, Mark held positions at AKQA and iXL, where they excelled as a Senior Information Architect, managing the strategy, development, and design of digital user experiences. Mark also standardized information architecture processes and deliverables to ensure consistency and quality.

Mark's career began at Gravity Switch as a Designer and Developer, where they gained valuable experience in their field.
