Romain Sabathe

Romain Sabathe began their work experience in 2015 as a machine learning intern at Kwyk, an online platform for mathematics teachers. During their internship, they worked on gathering and analyzing data on student performance for math exercises.

In 2016, Sabathe joined Onfido, a company specializing in identity verification at scale. Initially, they served as a machine learning intern and worked on a project focused on age identification using facial pictures. The final model they contributed to achieved an average estimation error of 3.6 years.

Following their internship, Sabathe became a junior machine learning applied scientist at Onfido in 2017. Romain then progressed to the position of machine learning applied scientist in 2018, where they became a member of the research team and integrated its growth, currently consisting of 10 individuals.

In April 2021, Sabathe was promoted to the role of Machine Learning Applied Scientist Lead at Onfido, demonstrating their expertise and leadership in the field.

Romain Sabathe's education history includes a Master's degree in Machine Learning from Imperial College London, which they pursued from 2015 to 2016. Prior to that, from 2013 to 2015, they completed a Master's degree in Engineering at École des Mines de Saint-Étienne. Romain began their academic journey at Lycée Saint-Louis - Paris, where they pursued Preparatory Classes from 2011 to 2013, focusing on Mathematics and Physics.
