Simon Bozonnet

Simon Bozonnet, Ph.D. has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles related to data science and artificial intelligence. Simon is currently working at Onfido as a Lead Scientist since April 2022. Prior to this role, they served as a Senior Scientist at Onfido from September 2021 to March 2022.

Before joining Onfido, Simon worked at AXA from 2016 to 2021, where they held the positions of Lead AI from September 2018 to August 2021 and Senior Data Scientist from May 2016 to August 2018. At AXA, they were responsible for designing and implementing various systems, including automatic email classification, handwriting recognition/OCR, computer vision, and fraud detection in health insurance.

Simon also worked as a Senior Data Scientist at HyperCube Research by BearingPoint from June 2015 to April 2016. Simon'sresponsibilities included fraud detection for PayPal, text classification for file merging at Bearingpoint GmbH, predicting the best medicine for a specific patient in the AstraZeneca challenge, and unsupervised customer clustering for predicting the success and segment of start-ups.

Simon started their career at OnMobile as a Research Engineer in Natural Language Processing from October 2012 to May 2015. Prior to that, they worked at EURECOM as an Associate Researcher in Multimedia Indexing with AI techniques from May 2012 to October 2012, and as a Ph.D. student in Artificial Intelligence - Automatic Information Retrieval for Multimedia Indexation from October 2008 to April 2012.

Simon has also contributed as a Master Thesis student at CEA and as a student at INSA Lyon and KTH | Kungliga Tekniska högskolan.

Simon Bozonnet, Ph.D. obtained a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from INSA Lyon - Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon, where they attended from 2003 to 2008. Following that, they pursued a Ph.D. in AI for information retrieval at Télécom Paris, completing it from 2008 to 2012. During their studies, in 2006 and 2007, they also attended KTH Royal Institute of Technology where they pursued an Elektro degree with a focus on Signalbehandlingen. Simon Bozonnet also obtained the certification of Certified Apache Hadoop Developer 2.x from Hortonworks in May 2015. Simon also has additional training in Hadoop through a program called Formation Hadoop, although the specific years are not mentioned.
