Asad Shaheed

Asad is an Architect and Master Planner based in London, with over 40 years of experience in project and business development initiatives. He has worked in some 40 countries across the world with international funding institutions, bi-lateral aid agencies, central and provincial governments, government corporations and private sector developer clients.

He previously held directorships at Halcrow Group Ltd, CH2M Hill and Dubai Holding where he specialized in the direction, management and execution of high profile integrated development projects. These ranged in scale from regional development plans and planning for new towns, to master plans for medium sized projects, through to urban design and architecture for site scale developments.

Asad has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Architecture from Washington University in St.Louis, Master of Architecture Degree from Pratt Institute in New York, and was enrolled at Columbia University in New York for two summer sessions. He has authored books and articles on urban planning, and lectured extensively including directing a course on affordable housing at London University’s Development Planning Unit. In 2014 he was awarded Lifetime Honorary Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute in recognition of his contribution to promoting the art and science of town planning. Projects he has worked on have gained international acclaim including the Aga Khan Award for Architecture (Jordan, 1992), the Royal Town Planning Institute’s Award of Excellence (UK, 1998) and the Canadian Institute of Planner’s Award of Excellence (Barbados, 1999).
