Harneet Panesar

Harneet Panesar has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Harneet currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer at the Ontario Energy Board, where their responsibilities include overseeing various divisions and focusing on operational excellence, reduction of regulatory burden, industry performance, and consumer protection. Prior to this role, they worked as a Lecturer at Toronto Metropolitan University, teaching courses on energy storage and use, as well as energy innovation and technology. Before that, Harneet held several positions at Hydro One, including Director of Strategy and Integrated Planning, Senior Manager - Reliability, Analytics & Governance, Senior Customer Accounts Engineer & Acting Account Executive, Account Executive, and Transmission Network Management Engineer/Officer. Harneet was responsible for various aspects such as strategy development, reliability performance monitoring, customer relationship management, and asset management. Harneet also worked as an Electrical Engineer-In-Training at Stantec Consulting Ltd., focusing on designing electrical safety systems and lighting systems for various projects. Additionally, they gained experience in advanced engineering at Autoliv.

Harneet Panesar completed a B.A. Sc degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto from 2001 to 2006. Later, from 2008 to 2011, they pursued an MBA degree at the Rotman School of Management, also at the University of Toronto. In 2022, Harneet attended INSEAD for an Executive Education program on Leading Organizations in Disruptive Times. Additionally, they obtained the certification of Professional Electrical Engineer from Professional Engineers Ontario in 2009. Currently, Harneet is pursuing an Artificial Intelligence program with a focus on Implications for Business Strategy at MIT Sloan Executive Education, expected to be completed in 2023.
