Department: Cross-Functional Support Reports to: Chief Operating Officer Direct Reports: Cross-Functional Support Department Time Commitment: 10-15 hours per week Position Type: Appointed

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Vice-President, Operations is responsible for ensuring day-to-day tasks within the organization are being carried out, as well as being a central coordinator and facilitator for ongoing initiatives within the organization, particularly between the advocacy team leaders and department heads.

As a non-voting member of the leadership team, they shall:

  • Fulfill operational tasks as directed by the leadership team, such as planning meetings, organizing minutes, and other operational tasks.
  • Ensure tasks throughout the organization are being completed and coordinating any ongoing projects within OSTA-AECO.
  • Support Education & Advocacy Interest Group (EIG & AIG) chairs in hosting meetings and accomplishing advocacy goals and initiatives.
  • Manage other operational aspects of the organization such as AIG directories, procedures, and inter-departmental coordination.
  • Act as a line of communication between the department heads and the advocacy team.
  • Work to provide leadership and managerial training for the General Assembly
  • Uphold OSTA’s values as outlined in the Code of Conduct to foster a safe and healthy working environment

REQUIRED SKILLS The following skills are strongly recommended for the following position. Note, candidates need not have direct experience with these skills, however, should show a keen interest in developing them.

  • Excellent team and project management skills.
  • Time management and organization skills, able to keep up with daily recurrent tasks and keep tabs on many ongoing initiatives.
  • Timely communication skills and ability to coordinate teams.
  • Adept technology skills including experience with Office 365, specifically Microsoft Teams.
