Amit Shachaf has extensive experience in the field of imaging system architecture, specializing in semiconductor measurement systems. Amit has worked as a Senior Principal Research Scientist at Onto Innovation since 2020, where they serve as an imaging system architect. Amit'srole involves image processing on FPGA for highly precise autofocus design for Ellipsometer. Prior to that, Amit worked at Nanometrics Inc. from 2005 to 2020, also as a Senior Principal Research Scientist specializing in semiconductors measurement systems. In this role, they developed image processing on FPGA for precise autofocus design for ellipsometer.
From 2004 to 2005, Amit worked at HDI Instrumentation as a Senior Software Engineer. Amit was involved in the development of a Reflectivity Inspection system for the Hard Disk and Silicon Wafer industry. Amit'salgorithm for defect classification created strong competition to KLA, which ultimately led to the company being sold to KLA.
Amit's earlier experiences include working as a Senior Software Engineer at Virtual Arrays in 2002 and as the Image Processing Group Leader at TestShip Ltd. from 2000 to 2001. Amit also served as the R&D Hardware Manager at CMT Medical Technologies from 1999 to 2000, where they led a hardware engineering team responsible for developing image processing electronic boards and frame-grabbers for image acquisition in the X-Ray medical market.
Lastly, Amit worked as the R&D Manager at OPSIGAL Ltd. from 1993 to 1998. Here they developed image processing and robotic products for the cardboard and paper industries. In 1996, their own company, Shachaf Control Systems, was sold to OPGAL Optoelectronic Industries and renamed OPSIGAL.
Amit Shachaf completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology from 1988 to 1993. Following this, Shachaf attended Stanford University in 2002 and 2003 to study Computer Vision. However, no degree was specified for this particular period.
