Diane Bui

Sr. Mechanical Designer at Onto Innovation

Diane Bui has accumulated a diverse range of work experience over the years, starting in 1991 at Luxtron Corp. as a Document Control Leader and Drafter. Diane then worked at Convac/Apt Inc. as a Sr. CAD Design Drafter, where they created detail and assembly drawings for semiconductor capital equipment. After that, they joined A.G. Associates as a Sr. Design Drafter, responsible for creating assembly and sub-assembly drawings for gas delivery systems. Diane then worked at Applied Materials as a Sr. CAD Designer, assisting with 3D modeling and 2D drawings for PVD systems. Diane also supported R&D at Western Digital as a Sr. Mechanical Designer, developing layout and assembly drawings for the Hard Disc Head Stack Assembly using HP Solid Designer and ME10.

In 1999, Diane returned to Applied Materials as a CAD Designer II/Technical Reviewer/Checker, providing detail and assembly drawings for new designs. Diane then worked at Western Digital again, this time as a CAD Designer, handling Bill of Materials and ECO documentation, as well as designing tooling equipment for hard drive production assembly lines.

Diane's career path led their to Nanometrics Inc., where they worked as a Mechanical Designer and later as a Design Engineer, collaborating closely with R&D engineers to create prototype optical heads. Diane generated detailed part drawings, assembly drawings, and related documentation for these designs.

Most recently, Diane worked at Onto Innovation as a Sr. Mechanical Designer, responsible for assisting the mechanical and electrical engineering teams with initial design layout and project development using SolidWorks.

Throughout their career, Diane has consistently demonstrated their proficiency in CAD systems, 2D and 3D modeling, and creating accurate technical drawings. Diane'sexperience spans various industries, including semiconductor, manufacturing engineering, and optical technology.

Diane Bui began their education in 1977 at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Diane pursued a field of study in Dental Hygiene/Hygienist and attended the university until 1979. In the following year, from 1979 to 1981, they enrolled in San Jose City College and earned an A.A Degree in Drafting Engineering.
