Job Summary:

The Behavioral Health Clinical Supervisor is role that includes direct patient care and supervision for Behavioral Health students and recent graduates looking for clinical supervisor to fulfill their licensure requirements to become independent therapists.  When providing direct patient care they are responsible for psychosocial and diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, internal and external referrals, crisis assessment and intervention as needed.  When providing clinical supervision they are responsible for providing appropriate coaching to include all the components of the visit including charting and billing.  The ratio of patient care and supervision will vary throughout the year.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide appropriate therapeutic care for ODHC patients including:

    1. Conduct diagnostic assessments and provide appropriate diagnoses.
    2. Provide therapeutic services to individual, couples, groups, and families.
    3. Provide effective treatment planning and assisting clients in successfully achieving goals.
    4. Evaluate crisis situations and apply appropriate interventions.
    5. Maintain documentation of patient encounters via progress notes, assessment/diagnostic information and treatment planning as outlined in the Behavioral Health Department policy.
    6. Maintain any other documentation required for insurance companies and MNDHS.
  • Provide clinical supervision to graduate students and pre-licensed graduates pursuing a career in the behavioral health field

    1. Coordinate and manage training activities including student education and group supervision.
    2. Communicate with education and licensing institutions to remain consistent with standard requirements for graduation and licensure.
  • Actively participate in meetings that support ODHC’s integrated health care model to provide comprehensive care for all ODHC patients.

    1. Assist in the detection of “at risk” medical, dental, and behavioral health patients and development of plans to prevent further psychological or physical deterioration.
    2. Make appropriate referrals for patients when appropriate services are not within the ODHC Behavioral Health Department scope of practice.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other ODHC staff to ensure efficient daily operations of all department and stay updated on ODHC events, changes in the workplace, polices (including HIPAA), procedures, and services.

  • Read email, Intranet, and other communication tools on a regular schedule and respond in a timely manner to requests, where applicable.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree and MN state licensure as a Behavioral Health Provider (LICSW preferred).

  • Currently Certified as a Board Approved LPCC, LMFT, or LICSW Supervisor or willingness to obtain certification.

  • A minimum of 3 years related work experience providing mental health services and two years clinical supervision.

  • Abide by ethical standards of licensing board.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Successful crisis management skills with experience in diffusing difficult situations.

  • Confidence, professional judgement and grace under pressure.

  • Bi-lingual skills are a plus.
