Juliana Vengoechea Barrios

Juliana Vengoechea Barrios is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in human rights and international law. Currently serving as a Senior Managing Litigation Officer at Open Society Foundations since 2014, Juliana has held various positions within the Open Society Justice Initiative, including Managing Legal Officer and Aryeh Neier Fellow, where leadership in legal research on nationality laws in the Americas was highlighted. Prior experience includes roles at the International Rescue Committee and academia as Director of the Center for Studies in International Law and Assistant Professor at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Juliana's foundational experience in human rights law includes positions at the Presidency of the Republic of Colombia, the Constitutional Court of Colombia, and the UNHCR, complemented by an LLM in Human Rights and Refugee Law from the University of Michigan Law School.
