Mahir Jethanandani

Mahir Jethanandani is a skilled machine learning professional currently serving as a Member of Technical Staff at OpenAI since September 2023 and as the Founder of a stealth startup focused on ML projects since May 2023. Previously, Mahir worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at Scale AI within the Special Projects Group from 2020 to 2023, and served as a Machine Learning Researcher at Berkeley Artificial Intelligence Research from 2019 to 2020 under the guidance of Professor Shankar Sastry. Early career experiences include internships at Meta in 2018 on the Detection & Threat Infrastructure team, at 23andMe on the Machine Learning Infrastructure and Deployments team in 2017, and a research engineering internship at the University of California, San Francisco’s Department of Neurology, Oncology Informatics Team in 2017. Mahir holds a Bachelor's degree with a triple major in Computer Science, Statistics, and Economics, along with a minor in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley.
