Yiren Jian

Yiren Jian is a skilled researcher currently serving as a Member of Technical Staff at OpenAI since March 2025, focusing on agent research, including contributions to ChatGPT-Agent and OpenAI Operator. Prior experience includes roles as a Research Scientist at TikTok and ByteDance, where Yiren Jian developed multi-modal large language models, as well as an internship at ByteDance, working on efficient generative visual-language models. Experience also includes positions at Snap Inc., developing neural speakers for affective image captioning, and at NEC Laboratories America, Inc., working on physical-augmented machine learning models for precision immunotherapy. Yiren Jian holds a PhD in Computer Science from Dartmouth College and a Master of Science in Physics from The George Washington University, along with a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
