Rob Kalmar

Software Engineer at OpenGov

Rob Kalmar has extensive experience in software engineering and technical management. Rob started their career in 1993 at AOL Technologies, where they worked as a software engineer, network engineer, and technical manager. During their time there, they developed system-level software, managed web server farms, and engineered networks.

In 1999, Kalmar moved to AOL Time Warner, where they served as a senior network engineer and technical manager. Rob configured Cisco, Juniper, and Foundry routers, switches, and server load balancers. Additionally, they led the conversion from Microsoft IIS and Windows NT to an Apache, Resin, Linux-based platform.

In 2002, Kalmar joined AOL Video, AOL Technologies as a software systems architect and technical manager. Rob designed, coded, and maintained the AOL Video Player platform, enabling the release of core application platforms and multiple player types across various platforms.

Kalmar then worked at Hobsons as a lead software engineer from 2012 to 2021. Rob joined PowerSchool in 2021, where they held various roles including lead software engineer and principal software engineer.

Currently, Kalmar is a software engineer at OpenGov Inc., starting in 2023.

Rob Kalmar attended The Ohio State University from 1989 to 1994, where they pursued a degree in Engineering. During their time at the university, Rob focused their studies on CIS Engineering and successfully earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
